Already announced to be appearing at Splendour in the Grass in July 2018, synth-pop sensations CHVRCHES will also play two headline dates in Sydney and Melbourne on their anticipated return to Australia. The Glaswegian three-piece will take in Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on Sunday July 22nd playing their biggest Australian headline shows to date!

Released earlier this month, CHVRCHES’ latest single, ‘Miracle’, is the fourth track to be lifted from the band’s third studio album Love Is Dead, out Friday May 25 through Liberator Music/Goodbye Records. It’s looking in two directions at once, and what frontwoman Lauren Mayberry describes as “the most pop stuff we’ve done and also the most aggressive and vulnerable.”

Produced by Greg Kurstin (Sia, Adele, Foo Fighters), Love Is Dead follows on from 2013 debut, The Bones Of What You Believe and the Top-5 critically acclaimed Every Open Eye, which Sydney Morning Herald declared, “one of the strongest pop albums of 2015 – 4½/5 stars”.

Described as “especially contagious” by triple j, up-tempo lead single ‘Get Out’ received praise from tastemakers across the globe on release, with NPR calling it “the band’s most ambitious pop effort to date, all without losing that distinct edge”. The brooding ‘My Enemy’, featuring The National’s Matt Berninger, and introspective ‘Never Say Die’ followed, both garnering widespread acclaim.

Last in Australia in 2016 to play St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival plus sold-out headline shows in Sydney and Melbourne, CHVRCHES have established themselves as a powerful live force, their unique brand of hard-hitting, glittering synth pop translating into a spellbinding live show. Led by the enigmatic Lauren Mayberry, the trio’s commanding on-stage presence has seen them tear apart stages at some of the world’s biggest music festivals including Coachella, Glastonbury and Bonnaroo, and play alongside indie legends Depeche Mode, Passion Pit and Two Door Cinema Club among others.

“CHVRCHES are so good at making pop songs that you almost take them for granted” -- Noisey

“A monumental slab of devotional pop with enough sonic boom to fill a dozen stadiums”

-- The Guardian

“It’s safe to say that years of performance have turned Mayberry into a riveting, seasoned frontwoman” -- Consequence of Sound

CHVRCHES return this July to debut songs from Love is Dead in Australia for the very first time.
